Eakin Howard is a  freelance photographer,  specializing in sports, based out of North Carolina. As you might guess, he is also part of Ocracoke's Howard clan, being the grandson of Philip Howard.  A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, he majored in photojournalism and had an immersion in archaeology.  He has shot for Enduro Photo, Foreigner, Getty Images, Los Angeles Times, NASCAR, Professional Bull Riders, Rochester Americans, Rochester Red Wings, and the World Curling Federation. In 2021, he was awarded College Photographer of the Year.  All images are copyright Ocracoke Alive & Eakin Howard. Tom Whelan Photos from Ocrafolk 2022
Picture
Tom has dabbled in photography since grade school and now that he is retired, it has become a primary hobby (obesssion). Fortunately for us, he has been attending Ocrafolk Festivals since 2006 and has documented quite a bit of our history. Candid portraits are his specialty. Capturing an outstanding picture of someone involved in an activity that they really enjoy gives Tom a great deal of satisfaction. He especially enjoys shooting live entertainment.

This group of pictures is a representative selection of the 2022’s festival. The entertainers are welcome to use these pictures for their social media or promotion. Tom can be contacted at tdwhelan@earthlink.net for a link to a google drive which holds all the pictures I processed for this year’s festival.
