Community Programs
Playbox Theatre Camp:
Join Emmet Temple of Ocracoke Island, a theatre-artist and School of the Arts graduate, for an hour-long workshop that introduces kids to the basics of theatre-making through short archetypal scene work with DIY aesthetic (ie. a whole lot of fun!). Emmet will lead the group using the same techniques that he utilizes for his touring shows. Classes conclude with a short performance.

Wednesdays, 9-10 AM, July 6-August 18. Program will run once a week for 7 weeks (Single Day Attendees Welcome)

Most dates are at the Berkley Barn behind Berkley Manor (58 Water Plant Rd) on Ocracoke Island, NC, next to the National Park Service visitor parking lot on the harbor (parking available there). Please bike or walk in.
For July 27nd & August 3rd classes will be held at Deepwater Theater (84 School Rd on Ocracoke).

Each year, Ocracoke Alive works with visiting artists, helping bring them to students at Ocracoke School through the Arts Partnership program and Ocracoke School Arts Week. The Ocracoke Kitchen Project:
The Ocracoke Kitchen Project is an online video series celebrating the foodways of Ocracoke Island. Hosts Daphne Bennink and David Tweedie meet with local chefs and cooks to showcase some of their favorite dishes and uncover the ingredients of their diverse and colorful lives. |
