Mended Wing Theatre Company Visits Ocracoke
On January 27 & 28, 2023, Ocracoke Alive hosted the Mended Wing Theatre Company with a production of Shakespeare's Hamlet at the Ocracoke Community Center.
Ocracoke's own Emmet Temple formed the Mended Wing Theatre Company with fellow students from the NC School of the Arts. For their sixth season, they toured Eastern NC with Hamlet guest directed by Beth Fletcher, and in the spring will tour of central NC with The Tempest, guest directed by Tyree Albert.
Their organization is founded on the belief that Shakespeare is for everyone, that theatre is an empathy-building tool, and that art should be easily accessible, and financially viable, to people all across the country – not just to the privileged who live near a "cultural hub."

SHOW DETAILS
Mended Wing Theatre Co. Presents Hamlet
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark--Hamlet is in mourning for his father, but everyone else seems to have moved on already, especially his mother Gertrude and his uncle Claudius, who married suspiciously soon after his father's death. When Hamlet learns his father was murdered, all of Denmark is thrown upside down, as Hamlet winds his trap around the villain. Are his motives pure? Will he succeed? Who killed the old king?
In Mended Wing's 75-minute, 4-actor adaptation, directed by Beth Fletcher, and starring Taigé Lauren, Matt Foley, Nic Brown, and Emmet Temple, Shakespeare's iconic tale of murder, madness, and vengeance comes to thrilling new life.
ABOUT MENDED WING
