Ocrafolk Festival 2021
The Ocrafolk Festival 2021, will be on June 4-6. This festival will be a little bit different from normal since we will be operating it on half budget and will need to practice COVID safety protocol. Many of our Ocrafolk Festival attendees are in the 60+ age category, placing them in the highest risk category for the coronavirus. We want to make sure that everyone stays healthy, and that we do our part to help control this health crisis, so that we can look forward to many future years of gathering under the live oaks for great performances. Stayed tuned for more details.
Ocrafolk 2020 didn't happen because of COVID, but that didn't stop us from having fun and coming out with a T for the Festival That Wasn't! Click on the images below to read more and order your T.

Ocrafolk ~ A Community Festival with a Mission
Ocrafolk Festival is recognized throughout our region as an extraordinary event in a one-of-a kind setting. Our fans and audiences have been an integral part of our story, along with countless volunteers, performers, and supporters that we call family. Ocrafolk isn’t produced by an incorporated town or large corporation. This event is grassroots and happens only if everyone lends a hand.
Ocracoke Island is an incredibly special place. You may know this already. What visitors might not be aware of is how this small community struggles to provide the resources that are often taken for granted in other parts of the country.
In 2020, your Ocrafolk Festival admission ticket doesn’t just assist Ocracoke Alive in creating a weekend packed with incredible performances. It also supports hundreds of hours of student and community programming that would vanish without your funding.
So, thank you for your generosity! Thank you for joining us! Let the magical journey begin!

Ocrafolk Festival Beer Garden & Alcohol Policy
This year, at the Live Oak Stage Area audience members will have access to the Ocrafolk Festival beer and wine garden, so that they can enjoy a drink with while watching performances. Beer/wine can only be purchased by patrons of 21+ years of age. Upon showing an ID at the Merch Tent, you will be provided with a complementary wrist band that allows for the purchase of drink tickets. In our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, we minimize plastics by only serving drinks in stainless steel cups. Bring your own 16 oz steel cups (like Klean Kanteen), or purchase your Ocrafolk Festival steel cup for $5 from our merch tent.
Ocracoke village does not have an ordinance against beer/wine in public places. Hard liquors are not permitted in public places and must be consumed within the boundaries of a licensed establishment. Disruptive behavior involving alcohol is not only really bad form at the Ocrafolk Festival, but also will attract the attention of local law enforcement. Open containers are not permitted in any vehicle, including golf carts. Please remember that we are a family festival. Be aware and respectful of others.
Can I Bring My Own Chair or Save Seats?
At the Ocrafolk Festival, we love a live listening audience! Empty seats that have been "reserved" by personal items may be cleared by festival volunteers to free up space for standing audience members. Also, if you have brought your own chair, you are invited to set it up in a designated area, but please do not replace the chairs the festival provides with your own. If you choose to bring your own seat, you will still need an admission wrist band to gain access to the seating area. Volunteers will be on hand to help facilitate happy audience interactions and answer your questions.
Can I bring my dog?
Leashed dogs are permitted in the Ocracoke community and on the Festival grounds. If your dogs are disruptive to people, performances, or other animals you may be asked to remove them from the festival. There are pet friendly motels and rentals on the island as well as a Bed & Biscuit. Please clean up after your pet!
Smoking policy
We ask that you not smoke or use e-cigs in the festival audience or near the stages. We take pride in providing a smoke free environment for our audience and performers. We appreciate your cooperation.
Golf Carts, Vehicles, Shuttles and Parking
Golf carts are not permitted on festival grounds with the exception of Ocrafolk Festival Event Vehicles. Please remember that the festival is a pedestrian zone. Community parking can be found near the village ferry docks next to the Ocracoke Preservation Museum . . . about a 10-minute walk from the festival. There is also a free village shuttle that runs from the ferry docks to near the festival site. If you have any additional questions about accessibility, please contact us. Thanks!
Lodging for the Ocrafolk Festival weekend
A word to the wise . . . book early! The Ocrafolk Festival weekend is one of the most popular of the season. By springtime it can be very difficult to find lodging on the island. For information on hotels, B&Bs, & campgrounds visit www.visitocracokenc.com. If lodging is unavailable on Ocracoke, we suggest looking on Hatteras Island and further north. Please be aware that lines for the free Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry can back up during the season. Catch an early morning ferry to get to the island with less of a wait.
If you have any other questions feel free to contact the festival at [email protected]
