Mural Auction at Ocracoke's Island Inn Commons to benefit Ocracoke Preservation Society's Restoration of the Historic Island Inn
Ocracoke Alive has coordinated an Artist Mural Project at the Island Inn Commons in partnership with the Ocracoke Preservation Society. The installment features 10 panels commissioned from Ocracoke artists and 12 panels by students from the 2023 Ocracoke School Arts Week mural class under the direction of Robert Chestnut. Participating artists were provided with a 4’x4’ panel to design around one of the following themes: Ocracoke Community, Ocracoke History, Ocracoke Environment.

How to Bid on Murals for Silent Auction (Prebidding Oct 17-24, Live Silent Auction Finale Oct 25, 5:30-7 PM ~ Read Below
On Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 5:30-7 PM (at the conclusion of the Island Inn Commons presentation by OPS), Ocracoke Alive will host a silent auction for 10 of the commissioned artist panels to benefit OPS's restoration of the Island Inn. Online pre-bidding will be available via email ([email protected]) from October 17 until 9 PM on October 24 (the day before the event). The highest bid received online will be the starting bid at the live silent auction on October 25th. Winning bids are required to pick up the artwork on Ocracoke Island, preferably by the end of 2023 (Contact Ocracoke Alive to see about other pickup dates). Murals are painted on 4’x4’ ½” PVC board. Frame stand not included.
In addition, 12 student panels, collaborations from Ocracoke Arts Week 2023, will be open for sponsorship bids. If you would like to sponsor one of these panels for a year, they will decorate the new Ocracoke school grounds/buildings or the Island Inn Commons for a year and will include a thank you to the sponsor. 10 Artist Panels For Auction
To give an online pre-bid for one of the following 10 commissioned art mural panels between Oct 17-24:
1. Click on the artwork to see the artist and mural number.
2. Email [email protected], with the artwork # you are bidding on, your name, address, email and phone contact, and your bid (minimum $20 above previous bid).
3. You will be assigned a bidder number (BD-A1 for example), and the current highest bid will be updated three times a day on the site, starting October 17 up until 9 PM on October 24.
4. Highest online bid will be the starting bid on site for the live silent auction, 6-7 PM on October 25th. If you cannot be present for the live silent auction, but wish to bid on the 25th, we recommend finding a proxy on Ocracoke to bid on your behalf.
5. Winners of the bid will receive an online invoice from Ocracoke Alive for payment.

They will be displayed around the new Ocracoke School Grounds for a year with the sponsor's name. At the end of the year, the murals will return to Ocracoke Alive (we may find a new home for it in the Ocracoke community).

3. Ocracoke Alive will contact you with an invoice. Once payment has been received, your sponsor name will be posted here.
